System Verification Test Engineer
Test planning and execution of SONET/SDH/Ethernet for a next-generation carrier-class transport product
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop verification test cases based on product, system and industry standard requirements documents
  • Perform conformance, system, functional and integration testing of L2/L3 gigabit Ethernet switching/routing systems, SONET, and SDH transport systems
  • Evaluate and develop new test tools and automated test cases to verify protocols and network performance
  • Document product defects within product development cycle
Qualifications
  • Requires BS (MS preferred) in electrical engineering, computer science or equivalent.
  • 4-7 years experience in telecom/datacom industry with at least 3 years hands-on experience with system test experience in the following areas: IP/MPLS, Gigabit Ethernet, SONET and SDH
  • Verifying SONET/SDH transport technology including OAM&P functionality, synchronization, protection switching, and network interoperability (linear, star, mesh, ring, BLSR and UPSR)
  • Must have strong knowledge in OA&M environment, C/C++ and server processing systems i.e. SUN Solaris, UNIX and MS Windows
  • Excellent communication skills both written and oral; must be able to present design ideas to various functional groups
  • Must have outstanding interpersonal and problem solving skills
  • Proven ability to work as part of a team and independently
  • Must be familiar with standards such as GR-253, ITU-T G.703, and G.804

Ethernet test engineer
Description

The Ethernet test engineer will be responsible for platform conformance, system, functional and integration testing of L2/L3 gigabit Ethernet switching/routing systems.

Skills and experience
  • Detailed understanding of L2/L3 switching, Ethernet, Bridging/Spanning Tree, Rapid Spanning Tree (RSTP) 802.1w
  • VLANs, QoS, Rate-Limiting.
  • Detailed understanding of RIP, OSPF, BGP, IS-IS, and/or MPLS.
  • Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, UDP/IP
  • Experience with following interface types: Fast Ethernet 10/100, Gbe and 10G Gbe
  • Experienced user of IXIA or Spirent test tools
JOB POSITION
Automation test engineer
Description
The test automation engineer will be responsible for developing automation test tools for System Engineering and Validation testing of a next generation Ethernet/SONET/SDH transport system.
Skills and experience
  • Tools development and automation experience: Tcl/Tk/Perl scripting
  • Experience with 3rd party traffic generation tools for simulation of L3 test environments
  • Excellent analytical and interpersonal skills
  • Unix/Linux and Windows experience
  • Experienced user of IXIA, Spirent, OmniBer718, Acterna test tools
  • Experience testing physical layer interfaces such as SONET/SDH/PDH and Gigabit Ethernet is required.

SONET/SDH network test engineer
Description

The test SONET/SDH engineer will be responsible for platform conformance, system, functional and integration testing of a next generation Ethernet/SONET/SDH transport system.

Skills and experience
  • Ability to identify problems, recognize the severity and impact of those problems, and report and track them through the established mechanisms is required
  • Knowledge of verifying SONET transport technology including OAM&P functionality, synchronization, protection switching, and network interoperability (linear, star, mesh, ring, BLSR and UPSR);
  • Hands-on experience monitoring or modifying data network traffic implementing SONET/SDH
  • Familiarity with industry network analyzer test equipment such as Acterna ANT10/20 and Agilent OmniBer equipment
JOB POSITION

Application test engineer

Description

The application test engineer will be responsible for Interoperation / Integration testing between Turin products, OEM products, and other vendor equipment. Responsibilities also include Applications Specific Testing – data/voice/video over Ethernet and transport and application specific upgrade testing such as complex topology reconfigurations and network software upgrade testing.

Skills and experience
  • Telecom industry verification background
  • Ability to identify problems, recognize the severity and impact of those problems, and report and track them through the established mechanisms is required
  • Knowledge of verifying SONET transport technology including OAM&P functionality, synchronization, protection switching, and network interoperability (linear, star, mesh, ring, BLSR and UPSR);
  • Familiarity with industry network analyzer test equipment such as Acterna ANT10/20 and Agilent OmniBer equipment
