Turin Networks Enhances Wireless Backhaul Bandwidth Optimization Platform with New Pseudowire Capabilities

Widely deployed MASTERseries enables the transition to a Carrier Ethernet Infrastructure

Petaluma, CA, April 1, 2008 – Turin Networks, Inc., a leading global provider of innovative, Wireless Backhaul, Converged Services and Carrier Ethernet solutions for wireline and wireless network operators, today announced the delivery of new pseudowire capabilities on the company’s widely deployed MASTERseries™ Wireless Backhaul optimization platform. This new release 7.0, is the first since Turin Networks acquired Carrier Access Corporation on February 8, 2008, expanding Turin’s iConnect™ solutions for Wireless Backhaul. This continues the MASTERseries evolution and supports wireless operators and wireless backhaul carriers in their transition to a converged Carrier Ethernet infrastructure, efficiently supporting both their legacy 2G / 3G and emerging 4G services.

“Mobile operators worldwide are increasingly migrating to packet based technologies to expand their backhaul capacity and to support the increasing amount of bandwidth-intensive mobile data services more efficiently," said John Lively, Vice President at Ovum RHK. "As a result, we expect the market for pseudowire and Ethernet backhaul transport equipment to grow by more than a factor of 10 between 2008 and 2012, reaching more than $5 billion in 2012."

“Turin Networks has established itself at the forefront of the wireless backhaul market and is committed to meeting the evolving requirements of our wireless customers,” said Henry Wasik, Turin’s president and chief executive officer. “We continue to expand the functionality of the MASTERseries, addressing our customer needs for utilizing pseudowire technologies in their network.”

Benefits of Migration to Pseudowires over Ethernet using MASTERseries

Release 7.0 of the MASTERseries allows wireless operators to migrate their existing 2G/3G TDM/ATM backhaul infrastructure to IP using Pseudowires over Ethernet. The MASTERseries platform now provides advanced pseudowire and Ethernet capabilities including CESoPSN, SAToP, Adaptive timing, MPLS/Martini, Ethernet VLAN switching, and advanced QoS.

About MASTERseries

Turin’s MASTERseries is a field-proven wireless backhaul bandwidth optimization platform that is currently deployed by multiple Tier-1 wireless operators, and in tens of thousands of cell sites. The MASTERseries supports TDM, ATM, PPP, Ethernet and now pseudowires with unparalleled bandwidth management and multi-service aggregation, enabling these and other mobile operators to gracefully migrate from legacy 2G/3G to new 4G IP-based services.
