Turin Networks,
Inc., a leading developer and supplier of multiservice transport
platforms for telecommunications carriers, announced today
that it recently reached the 75th customer milestone, signifying
the company's increasing momentum with Independent Operating
Company (IOC) customers. The company's TraverseT platform
provides IOCs and other service providers with industry leading
SONET transport, multi-bandwidth management as well as Ethernet
capabilities from one compact, highly integrated system.
Turin attributes this accomplishment to having successfully
met several key requirements for the IOC community:
Enable network evolution and growth, as well as improved
economics
Turin's flagship Traverse platform integrates scalable
OC-3 to OC-192 SONET transport, multi-ring bandwidth management,
wideband and broadband DCS, and Ethernet over SONET switching
in one versatile system. This powerful, evolutionary design
enables carriers to build on their existing SONET infrastructure
and manage existing TDM services with increased efficiency
while migrating to new revenue generating packet-based services.
Support the voice-video-data triple play, Ethernet
access and other important initiatives
As IOCs strive to provide their customers with advanced
new broadband services, the transport infrastructure must
also evolve to provide the capacity and flexibility necessary
for supporting the range of current and future access technologies.
The Traverse platform lays the groundwork for an integrated
multiservice transport network that allows IOCs to efficiently
support the triple play, Ethernet, and other future technologies.
In addition, its scalable design provides low start-up costs
and enables a true "pay as you grow" approach when adding
capacity to support new services.
RUS certification
The Traverse platform was accepted on the Rural Utilities
Service (RUS) list of materials in November 2002 as approved
transmission and central office equipment. This achievement
allows rural IOCs and utilities to purchase and deploy the
Traverse platform with funds obtained through low-interest
RUS loans.
Company stability and strong customer support
Turin has focused on building a solid business from
the very beginning. The company experienced significant growth
in 2003, increasing revenues more than 400% over the prior
year. Turin provides its growing customer base with a range
of support services through a professional staff of engineers
with 24x7x365 availability. In addition, strategic partners
such as Motorola and UTStarcom help Turin to provide customers
a complete solution.
"In the past four years, Turin has established itself as
a leading provider of multiservice transport and digital cross-connect
solutions to the IOC community" said John Webley, president
and CEO of Turin Networks. "We appreciate the trust our first
75 customers demonstrated in us when deploying our Traverse
platform as the vital backbone component in their networks,
and we look forward to continuing our momentum with independent
carriers in the years to come."
The Turin Traverse platform will be showcased at NTCA in
booth 100 at the Fountainebleau Hilton in Miami from February
10-11.
