New solutions optimized for delivering both TDM and
carrier-class Ethernet services to small and medium-sized
businessesATLANTA (SUPERCOMM) - June 2, 2003 -
Turin
Networks, Inc., a leading developer and supplier of multiservice
transport platforms today introduced a new family of multiservice
Ethernet access products designed to enable service providers
to deliver both traditional TDM and next-generation broadband
Ethernet services more cost-effectively to small and medium
sized business (SMB) customers. Co-developed by Turin Networks
and Motorola in an endeavor that builds upon the successful
OEM relationship established between the two companies in May
of 2002, the new Multiservice Enterprise Access (MEA) product
family includes flexible products for the customer premises
as well as headend facilities.
Built with simplicity and cost-effectiveness in mind, the MEA
product family complements Turin's flagship Traverse®
Multiservice Transport Platform by extending the ability to
combine voice and data on the same fiber at the network edge,
and thereby eliminating the need to aggregate different traffic
types using separate access platforms. "The MEA product
family is the first in the industry optimized for both T1/E1
TDM access and carrier grade Ethernet services" said John Webley,
CEO and founder, Turin Networks. "With Motorola as our partner,
we expect the leading price points of the MEA to drive the deployment
of carrier class Ethernet services in the first mile (EFM)."
Showcased by Turin for the first time at SUPERCOMM 2003 (June
2-5 Georgia World Congress Center, Booth #12441), the MEA product
family ranges from a low cost multiservice CPE device, the MEA
120, to a scalable service aggregation solution using either
the MEA 240, or the Traverse Multiservice Transport Platform.
