Vermont Telephone (VTel) Selects Turin Networks For Optical Backbone Upgrade
The Largest Independent Telephone Company in the State Deploys the Traverse® Platform to Increase Network Capacity and Integrate High-Speed Ethernet Capabilities

PETALUMA, CA., December 10, 2002 - Turin Networks, Inc., a leading developer and supplier of multiservice optical transport platforms for network service providers, announced today that Vermont Telephone Company, commonly known as VTel, has chosen Turin Networks Traverse® Platform to build a high-capacity optical backbone for delivering broadband data services as well as traditional voice services to their customers.

Turin's Traverse Multiservice Optical Transport Platform is designed to integrate smoothly into a carriers' existing SONET-based infrastructure and provide OC-3/12/48/192 transport of traditional DS1, DS3/EC-1 and OC-N services, as well as switched Ethernet over SONET (EoS) services. Turin's current platform provides new functionality that has been leveraged by VTel including integrated Fast Ethernet and Gigabit Ethernet switching with advanced VLAN capabilities and virtual concatenation. Other newly available features include support for integrated VT 1.5 switching/grooming, BLSR, and DS3/EC-1 Transmux functionality.
